Positive Involvement for Mental Health Service Users and Carers:
What we do:
We work with people whose lives are affected by a range of mental health problems from mild anxiety to phychosis and schizophrenia.
Our Aim:
Our aim is to make meaningful changes that have a real and positive impact on the lives of local people by seeking out the views and concerns of Mental Health Service Users and Carers.
We ensure your contributions are used in decision making and policy development by working closely with the Service Providers.
How we do it:
We play a constructive role, vigorously pursuing key issues and concerns to find practical solutions by;
» Holding regular meetings with those responsible for services from Board to local management of the Partnership Trust
» Meeting with other statutory bodies such as the County Council
» Keeping regularly in touch with MPs and County Councillors
We contribute to wide ranging reviews such as;
» Future In-Patient provision
» Care plan regimes
» Suicide prevention strategy
» Management of psychology services
» Crisis intervention and assertive outreach arrangements
South Cumbria Mental Health Forum came into being in 2001 and became registered as a charity in 2004. Registered Charity No. 1105459
The charity is now a county wide organisation and is called the Cumbria Mental Health Group and is managed by a Committee of elected Trustees.
We employ 4 Locality Development Workers and an Office Administrator to support Service Users and Carers to run the charity and its activities.
